What does my personal chef do?
The chef will plan, shop for and prepare your meal. In most cases, the chef will prepare the meal in your kitchen. However, many of our chefs offer drop-off services as well. At your option, the chef will also serve the meal.
How much advance notice is required to book an event?
Ideally, we like at least 48 hours to give you competitive bids from personal chefs. This gives the chef optimal time to bid on and shop for your customized in-home events.
Who will be my personal chef?
You will select the chef to prepare an exquisite meal for your event from bids you receive from the Hello Cheffy™ chef network.
What do I need to provide?
If the chef is preparing meals on-site, you will need to provide the chef with a full kitchen, to include a stove, oven, refrigerator and sink. For events for 12 or fewer people, you will also typically provide dishes and flatware. For larger events, chefs may coordinate with rental services.
What can I expect on the day of the event?
We offer the following to help your event go smoothly:
- Show up when you say you will. Both chefs and hosts should be on-time, as scheduled.
- Hosts should provide the personal chef with a tidy, clutter-free space to work in.
- Chefs are expected to leave the host’s kitchen the way they found it.
- Use respectful language with one another. Try not to use language that makes others around you uncomfortable.
- Do not let personal calls or text messages interfere with the service being provided.
Hello Cheffy™ contracts with adults. If the hosted event is for persons under age 18, an adult must be present at all times when the chef is on premises.
Hello Cheffy™ has the right to terminate an account for any reason, including violence, sexual misconduct, harassment, discrimination or illegal activity.
How much does it cost to hire a personal chef?
The cost to hire a personal chef is as diverse as the chefs themselves but generally the meal is similar in price to an equivalent restaurant meal. For more information on the factors that drive costs, read our How Much Does a Personal Chef Cost article.
What’s the difference between a personal chef and a private chef?
Although these terms are often used interchangeably, a private chef typically works for one client at a time and is usually paid a salary. A personal chef works for several clients at a time.
How do I make a change to an event I already booked?
Once your event is purchased and booked, you will work through your selected personal chef to address any requested changes.
What is the cancellation policy?
If Hello Cheffy™ terminates an agreement due to unforeseen circumstances prior to the event, all deposits and fees will be returned in full without any further liability to Hello Cheffy™. If the event is cancelled by the host for any reason, a $100 cancellation fee will apply if cancellation notice is received at least seven (7) days prior to the event. A cancellation fee in the amount of 50% of invoice will apply if the host cancels less than seven (7) days but more than three (3) days prior to the event. If the host cancels within three (3) days or less of the event, all deposits and fees becomes completely non-refundable.
